Debuting as an ANTE artist, Will.mms released music that is a departure from his previous solo works, with Above the Wave leaning into the ambient and flirting with jazz. The two track single is his first first venture with a woodwind instrument, signalling a possible shift in musical direction. Without vocals in either of the two pieces, the messaging is elusive, if any, and all we know is that this is not exactly the Will.mms that we’ve come to know for the last 5 years. The first piece recalls memories of a stranded sea vessel, waves knocking its hull in regular tempo, its passengers waiting for the storm to subside. The second, forgotten nights in a crowded ballroom, a slow waltz between two lost soul.

The single is accompanied by two visualisers created by ANTE. The artist wanted a hypnotic visualiser, which the audience can engage and disengage as they please while the music plays. The final result is a moody presentation of evolving geometric shapes on a stage of fog, and a slow dancing of rings against a black backdrop.
